Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What kind of equipment do you use?

Camera: I shoot with the Nikon D2x. I get emails regularly asking which is better - Nikon or Canon. I started shooting with a Nikon and have never shot with Canon. In my opinion each has advantages. I feel Nikon images have more detail, but Canon captures more color saturation. The newer Canons have some extreme ISO settings that would allow them to shoot in lower light conditions than Nikon. If I shoot in low light I bring my own light sources, so this is not an advantage to me yet.
Lenses: Mostly I shoot with the Nikkor 80-200 Zoom Lens. This provides me with the flexibility I need to shoot around the arena. I shoot from inside the arena, so if you shoot from the fence this may not be enough glass for you. A little tid-bit, if at all possible Do Not change lenses at the rodeo. You will be finding dust specs everywhere.
Strobes: I use the Speedotron Force 10 Arena strobes and have had no problems with them at all.

Digital Darkroom: I have an Alienware MJ-12 Server that I use as my digital darkroom. It has been hit or miss. When it is running well it is an excellent machine, but when it is down... it is down. Alienware offers absolutely nothing for customer support once you make your purchase. Even something as simple as BIOS updates are unobtainable. For such a pricey machine I expect more support.

I use most of Adobe's Creative Suite to make edits to images, create graphics, produce videos and create this website.
